MMC Chosen
to Provide First Aid Services for
Penn State Construction Projects
PITTSBURGH, PA, (March 26, 2003) – Mobile Medical Corporation (MMC) has been
awarded a three-year contract by The Pennsylvania State University, University
Park, PA, to provide work site first aid services for construction and renovation
projects conducted at the University, in conjunction with an Owner Controlled
Insurance Program (OCIP) administered by Marsh USA Inc. Pittsburgh Office. The
University’s plans include $300 million of construction projects at Main Campus
locations over the next five years.
A recognized provider of industrial medical services nationwide, MMC will supply
nursing and first-aid care in support of workplace safety. In recent months,
workplace safety has become a focal point for Pennsylvania, Ohio and Maryland,
states that passed legislation mandating drug-free work sites and substance-abuse
testing for state-funded construction projects.
On a day-to-day basis, MMC works closely with contractors, labor unions, facility owners and other clients to provide a range of services: nursing and first aid stations, physical examinations, respiratory protection, biological monitoring for OSHA compliance, and substance abuse testing programs – all designed to promote workplace safety and help reduce worker compensation costs.
“We furnish risk management services with the goal of minimizing work stoppage, reducing administrative burden, and ensuring regulatory compliance,” said Cynthia J. Latsko, president, Mobile Medical Corporation. “By treating injuries at the work site, we can help workers receive early medical care and return to service as soon as possible. Our on-site staff members treat injuries, provide follow-up care, maintain injury logs and records and submit insurance claims.”
“We chose MMC because of the company’s experience in Pennsylvania and other regions nationwide, along with its technology that permits timely data management and reporting,” said Greg Scott, manager of Construction, The Pennsylvania State University.
Based in Bethel Park near Pittsburgh, PA, with offices in Cleveland, OH, Mobile
Medical Corporation is a leading company in the occupational health field nationwide.
Founded in 1991, MMC provides on-site industrial medical services including
physical exams, nursing services, substance-abuse testing and labor management
cooperative programs. MMC is the first company to provide multi-site, integrated
testing with 24-hour results via the Internet and remains committed to setting
new standards for expertise and service.
