Medical screening and medical surveillance are two fundamental strategies for optimizing employee health. Medical screening is one component of a comprehensive medical surveillance program. The fundamental purpose of screening is early diagnosis and treatment of the individual. The fundamental purpose of surveillance is to detect and eliminate the underlying causes such as hazards, exposures or any discovered trends. Both can contribute significantly to the success of worksite health and safety programs.
Blood drawing will be accomplished by a certified and experienced phlebotomist and samples will be sent to an OSHA certified laboratory for analysis. Full disclosure of each result and its meaning will be provided in a written report. Results will indicate Normal, Within OSHA Limits of elevation or exceeding OSHA Limits. If a reported result exceeds OSHA limits, written and telephone verbal notification will be made to a designated customer representative. All blood draws will be conducted on an impervious surface and cleaned and maintained in a medically safe manner.
