- Laboratory and Point of Collection (Rapid) options
Cons of Saliva Testing
- Does not detect illicit drug use beyond 48 hours
- Cannot measure the frequency of drug use
- Not currently approved for federal testing (SAMHSA currently seeking approval)
- Limited drug panel
- Collection devices differ — not all FDA approved
- No approved collection guidelines
- Not available at all testing facilities
